Development Consulting

Development Consulting

IDEALS has been instrumental in providing legal assistance to development organization and empowering them to take control and shape their own future. IDEALS has “helped organizations help themselves” through its Legal Equity and Development Consultancy Program.

In 2007, we have been involved in migration-related activities. The organizations has recognized that rural poverty can no longer be confined to the issues of land tenure, but issues with globalization as well. Organizing, technical assistance, and policy advocacy must now embrace the issues of fair trade and overseas employment.

Currently, IDEALS is contributing to the lobbying of laws that promote road safety in the Philippines, more specifically the enactment of the Child Car Seat Bill.

This bill aims to require the use of car seats for children who are 12 years old and below. Together with a broad coalition of road safety advocates, IDEALS is leading the lobbying efforts in the senate and the IEC arm of the campaign.

Projects in the Program

Global Road Safety Advocacy

The absence of a child restraints law in the Philippines is the policy implementation gap that is being addressed in the Global Road Safety Partnership. The project aims for the passage of a Child Restraints Law through proactive engagement with policy makers of the Philippine government. In close collaboration with core group of partners and other road safety advocacy groups, we provide legal technical assistance to coalition partners, the build-up of political support and legal capacity- building of support groups and other allied organizations, and actively participate in media engagement particularly those involving the legal issues of the campaign.
